Private Chef

Private family residing in The Upper East Side of New York City, seeking a skilled and passionate Full Time Private Chef to join their household.  They are looking for an experienced professional to elevate daily meals and create memorable dining moments for family and occasional guests. Ideally this candidate would have French cooking experience. 

Position Summary: As our Private Chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting  meals that meet our family's tastes and dietary requirements. You will have the opportunity to showcase your creativity and culinary expertise, crafting diverse menus that combine exquisite flavors and presentation. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in private chef or restaurant kitchen experience to our home, along with a deep passion for the culinary arts. Experience with desserts and pastries would also be great. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Menu Planning and Execution: Create customized menus tailored to the family's preferences, dietary restrictions, and special occasions. Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as required, and occasionally cater for events and gatherings.

  2. Ingredient Selection: Source the highest quality ingredients, including organic, local, and specialty items. Maintain a well-stocked kitchen and manage inventory effectively.

  3. Culinary Expertise: Showcase your culinary skills by preparing a wide range of cuisines, from traditional to international, and explore innovative cooking techniques and presentation styles.

  4. Food Safety: Adhere to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen at all times. Manage food allergies and sensitivities with diligence.

  5. Flexibility: Collaborate closely with the family to accommodate their schedule and dietary preferences. Be adaptable to changing meal plans and last-minute requests.

  6. Kitchen Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances. Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Private Chef or extensive experience in a high-end restaurant kitchen.
  2. Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
  3. Strong knowledge of various cuisines, cooking techniques, and presentation.
  4. Ability to create diverse, well-balanced menus while accommodating dietary restrictions.
  5. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with household staff.
  7. Flexibility with scheduling and availability for special events or dinners.
  8. Demonstrated passion for culinary arts and continuous learning.
Up to $150,000/year
