Companion/Cook for Active and Cheerful Widower

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm

Compensation: $30/hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a warm, engaging, and reliable Companion/Cook to provide support for a 78-year-old active and cheerful widower who enjoys a vibrant and independent lifestyle. He is friendly, talkative, and loves playing the guitar. While he is fully capable of taking care of himself, he could benefit from companionship, encouragement, and assistance with meals, errands, and staying active.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve healthy and well-balanced lunches and dinners
• Encourage and accompany him on daily walks (approximately 2 miles)
• Assist with light home organization and tidying (weekly cleaners handle deep cleaning)
• Run errands such as grocery shopping, pharmacy trips, and other household needs
• Provide companionship and engaging conversation
• Remind and encourage him to do his exercises as he recovers from a recent fall
• Accompany him to occasional appointments
• Support and encourage social outings, hobbies, and activities, including music and playing the guitar
• Ensure he eats well and maintains his overall well-being

Ideal Candidate:

• Friendly, upbeat, and engaging
• A good cook, with the ability to prepare nutritious and enjoyable meals
• Active and able to walk 2 miles comfortably
• Encouraging and positive, helping to motivate an independent lifestyle
• Organized and able to keep things running smoothly
• Comfortable running errands and driving to occasional appointments
