High-End Housekeeper

Job Opportunity: Experienced Housekeeper for High-End Home

Location: Bryn Mawr, PA

About The Family: A private family, consisting of a couple and their delightful 4.5-year-old daughter. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented housekeeper to join their team in maintaining their high-end home. The husband has a terminal condition that impacts his speech and movement, so someone comfortable being around someone who is sick, is crucial.

The Ideal Candidate: A housekeeper with extensive experience working in larger, more formal private residences. who possesses a keen eye for detail and expertise in caring for finer materials, including marble, fine artwork, frames, and exquisite furniture. Must know how to dust and clean these items appropriately and care for them meticulously. Beyond mere cleaning prowess, the family values traits such as compassion, discretion, and adaptability. Someone easygoing and service-oriented.

What Works Best for the Family: They have a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter who will want to interact and play with the housekeeper so someone who enjoys children is key. Cleaning is the primary role of the housekeeper but other daily responsibilities might include: running errands, meal prep, laundry, and interacting with their daughter. Someone with a loud and overwhelming personality is not the best fit, but rather a positive, kind, calming individual.

  • Kind-hearted and Respectful: Given the husband's condition, characterized by speech and mobility challenges, they require someone with a positive demeanor, who is comfortable and compassionate and respects boundaries and privacy.
  • Effective Communication: Proficiency in English is essential, as interaction with the principal requires clear communication.
  • Small Footprint Mentality: The family values a candidate who understands the importance of being present yet discreet, adapting seamlessly to the needs of their household ensuring that the rhythm of our household remains undisturbed. Someone adept at "reading the room." 
  • Child-friendly: Their daughter loves engaging with those in the home, so a candidate who enjoys children and can pivot tasks appropriately is crucial. A candidate who cherishes moments with children and can adjust tasks accordingly is the best fit.
  • Flexibility and Proactivity: From understanding rotational cleaning schedules to preempting evolving needs, adaptability to changing needs is key. Someone savvy and seasoned in their approach to cleaning will be highly valued.


  • Exquisite Cleaning: Full, detailed cleaning of the home (dusting, vacuuming, etc.) including kitchens, living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, playrooms, offices, etc.
  • Rotational Work Philosophy: Understanding and implementing rotational work principles to prioritize cleaning tasks effectively. A nuanced understanding of prioritizing tasks ensures that our home remains in optimal condition.
  • Laundry Expertise: The family has a Laundress who comes a few days/week but this candidate must also know how to handle laundry duties and care for fine fabrics when necessary.
  • Culinary Support: Assisting with meal preparation, table setting, and kitchen cleanup.
  • Hospitality Assistance: Greeting guests, serving beverages, and providing support during occasional gatherings.

Additional Duties:

  • Running errands as needed.
  • Liaising with other household staff, including the chef, laundress, and estate team.
  • Occasionally assisting with serving duties and interfacing with guests.


  • Seasoned Expertise: Extensive experience in cleaning and managing high-end residences is a MUST.
  • Formal Etiquette: Knowledge and understanding of formal settings and household protocol is indispensable.
  • Professional Demeanor: The ability to maintain a professional demeanor and attire is key. The family will request a "uniform" i.e. black pants and a black top.
  • Positive Disposition: An easygoing demeanor, positive attitude, a sense of humor, and someone who enjoys children.

Current Staff: Caregivers, Laundress, Estate team, Occasional Chef.
Home SQFT: Approx. 10,000 Sq. Ft.

Position Responsibilities

  • Housekeeping: Full Housekeeping Required
  • Cooking: Help Start/Prep for Dinner
  • Laundry: Family Laundry
  • Errands: Dry Cleaners; Post Office, Etc.
  • Driving: Required
  • Travel: No Travel Required

Position Requirements

  • Work Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Languages: English (Excellent communication in English is key)
  • Experience: At least 05 Years of Experience working in a similar role in a high-end, private home
  • References: Minimum of 2 References
  • Background: Pass stringent background checks and drug testing upon offer of hire
  • Personality Traits: Kind-hearted, professional, reliable, flexible, adaptable, mature, proactive, detailed, self-directed, positive, ability to work independently, engaging, sense of humor, and easygoing.

Position Compensation

  • Salary: $30-35/hour, DOE, Negotiable for the right candidate
  • Living Accommodations: Live Out
